About the Event

The once quiet municipal market continues to make headlines following high-profile credit events in recent years. From the temporary halt of the PROMESA process in light of Hurricane Maria, to the budgetary challenges and resulting downgrade of Illinois and the ongoing decline of Connecticut credits, we are clearly seeing the results of a systemic problem.

But while Puerto Rico and Connecticut make headlines, what other credits are potentially lurking?

Designed specifically for the sell-side, get an inside view into what keeps the buy-side and your clients up at night. During the event, we'll also highlight how Bloomberg and MuniRisk™ can provide unmatched municipal data and analytics to help you stay ahead of the competition. Run APPS CREDIT<GO> on your Terminal today to access a free trial of the MuniRisk™ application. Click Here to Register

Municipal Finance Veteran Greg Usry Joins MuniRisk as Head of Business Development

New York, NY -- October 10, 2017 -- MuniRisk Ltd, a market intelligence and technology solutions firm for the financial services industry, today announced that Greg Usry has joined its executive team as Head of Business Development. In this role, Usry will provide strategic direction on business development, sales and marketing efforts for the company’s flagship product MuniRisk.

Usry comes to MuniRisk with over 30 years of experience in all aspects of municipal finance, including both buy and sell side management. In addition, he brings significant strategic business development experience.

On joining the company, Usry said, “I’m pleased to become part of the MuniRisk team and look forward to contributing my years of experience and relationships to helping position the application as the must-have credit tool for the municipal market. In light of recent downgrades and fast-deteriorating credits, fundamental research is more important than ever. MuniRisk was built to address this exact need, and I am excited to help equip market participants with the transparency and granularity that the application brings.”

MuniRisk is a municipal credit research application exclusively available to subscribers of the Bloomberg Professional service at APPS CREDIT<GO>. It is the first and only credit application to cover the entire municipal market. Designed by market practitioners, the application is powered by Bloomberg’s evaluated pricing and issuer data for municipal securities, as well as MuniRisk proprietary data sets. With more than 48,000 obligors and 127,000 individual fund accounts covered, it is the only source for comprehensive financial, economic, demographic, sector-specific operational and pricing intelligence for the municipal universe.

Mark Pesonen, CEO of MuniRisk Ltd and former Bloomberg executive said, "We are extremely excited to welcome someone with Greg’s expertise and background to MuniRisk. His familiarity with the municipal markets and strong track record in business development is a major value add to our team. I am confident that Greg will play an instrumental role in building and enhancing MuniRisk’s market presence.”

Most recently, Usry held the role as principal and Head of Origination at Rosemawr Management, a hedge fund focused solely on municipal special situations and distressed investing.

Prior to that, Usry spent 1993 to 2008 at Citi Global Markets where he was responsible for issuer derivatives, bond reinvestments and structured credit products. During his tenure at Citi, Usry was Co-Head of the Municipal Credit and Financial Products Group and was a member of the firm’s Municipal Securities Division operating committee. He was also a member of the MSRB’s standing committee on municipal new products and was a co-author of BMA’s Municipal Derivatives Dealer Best Practices.

Usry started his career at EF Hutton and JPMorgan in public finance, specializing in the public power and utility finance sectors. He attended Clemson University, graduating with a B.S. in Financial Management. He holds a Series 24, 63, 7 and 53.
